Waikato-based engineering firm Stainless Design has set up a Lean manufacturing academy to educate others in Lean processes, credited with growing its business despite the global economic downturn.
The company has partnered with the Kaizen Institute, a consultancy specialising in Lean manufacturing, and training organisation, Skills4Work, who will run the courses at Stainless Design.
Mr Cook said Lean manufacturing, made famous by automaker Toyota, had been a five-year journey for his company and involved assessing every aspect of his business from data entry and administration to manufacturing and inventory.
